Participants will be equipped with the knowledge and skills to view conflict as an opportunity for growth, effectively manage disagreements, and promote a unified, adaptive culture. This session will explore the dynamics of conflict in various settings, emphasizing its potential to drive positive change and innovation. Attendees will learn practical strategies to harness conflict for strengthening team cohesion and collaboration, transforming challenges into opportunities for unity and growth.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

By the end of the session, participants will be able to

  • Identify and explain the dynamics of conflict (e.g., causes, traditional views, and contexts in which conflict arises) and articulate its potential to foster positive organizational change.
  • Complete a SWOT analysis on conflict, identifying at least three potential benefits of conflict in their specific team or organizational setting.
  • Identify three benefits of conflict and the value to relationships.
  • Describe tools for managing the fight or flight response and how this correlates with improved conflict management.

SPEAKER BIO:

Dr. Julie Hayden is a licensed psychologist, CEO at East County Transitional Living Center, CAO at Rhombus University and Executive Director at Genesis Recovery, Inc., La Mesa Counseling and New Vision Counseling Center. She has extensive clinical experience with chronic mental illness, addiction, trauma, and homelessness. Their leadership roles have led Drs. Julie and Ray Hayden to extensive research and application of various models for conflict. Conflict is held as one of their "distinctives" in management / leadership training.
